What Is CBD?
CBD is the abbreviation for Cannabidiol, a naturally occurring compound found in the cannabis plant. It’s the second most active ingredient after THC. By itself CBD does not cause a “high”, and according to the World Health Organization “In Humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependency potential … To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD”. The cannabis plants contain 85 known cannabinoids, meaning there are 85 known chemical compounds secreted by the plant. The most popular and well known is THC which contains psychotropic effects in additional to it’s pain-relieving properties. CBD is different, it contains all the pain-relieving properties with nothing effecting mental state.
